Inspired by my love for cooking and hosting themed dinner parties for friends and family, I began designing custom invitations to match each event. I start by choosing a theme that reflects the season, weather, or occasion, then create a vision board to bring together the visual elements and atmosphere I imagine for the gathering. This process guides me in designing invitations that are not only aesthetically aligned but also capture the mood and personality of each party.
The following designs highlight a few themes I’ve especially enjoyed working on — each one inspired by the season, the occasion, and the joy of bringing people together.
The Golden Hour Grillout
Summer is slowly approaching, the weather is getting warmer, and the sun shines beautifully throughout the day. In the evening, as the sun begins to set, its final rays cast a golden hue over everything. It’s the perfect time to host a backyard grill party — complemented by a colour theme of golden yellow, peach orange, and fresh green. Think yellow flowers and lemons as table décor, paired with seasonal dishes like charred peaches and apricots that celebrate the flavours of summer.
Out of the Blues
As winter settles in and the festive lights fade, it's natural to feel a little blue. In my opinion, there’s no better way to lift that mood — to truly get “out of the blues” — than by gathering with loved ones. Picture a cozy evening themed around pops of red and burgundy against a soft light blue backdrop, with warm, comfortable clothing, sipping spiced mulled wine, and sharing laughter. The menu features hearty, seasonal dishes like a vibrant beetroot and orange salad, roasted Brussels sprouts and squash, braised short ribs, and a light, fluffy orange upside-down cake to finish.
